You are quite right in a sense about the limitation of 100, This is because originally there was ONLY online support and no local crawling. I believe we can basically just remove the limit for local crawling and that should do the trick.
Edit: I have since pushed a new version 28 that addresses the 100 image limit, its now unlimited.
